Josela Somoza Zamora

President of the Asociation de Mujeres Filipino

Josela Zamora was one of the(10) Filipino National Bagong Bayani Awardees in the of Community and Social Services. The award was given in Malacanang last June 4, 2009 by president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Mrs.Zamora is presently the president of the Asociation de Mujeres Filipino based in Madrid which advocates the interest and causes of women. She was coordinator of Thanan, A filipino Chaplaincy undertaking support projects for OFWs.

She is the daughter of SPUD's ever-loyal, late Mr.Ambrosio Somoza, College Faculty member. She presently resides in Madrid, Spain.

The Bagong Bayani Award is a national search for the country's outstanding and examplary Oversea Filipino Workers(OFWs). The award seeks to recognize and pay tribute to our OFWs for thier significant efforts in fostering goodwill among peoples of the world, enhancing and promoting the image of the filipino as a competent, responsible and dignified worker, and for greatly contributing to the socio-economic development of thier communities and our country as a whole.

Fe’ Divinagracia Desiar Rowland

Fe’ may still be the only Paulinian given the distinction and honor of "keeping the dream alive" by the Archdiocese of Detroit.

Described as "a quiet fire" and "like a candle on the altar of justice," Fe’ was one of 12 awardees who received the "Keep the Dream Alive Award" at a Martin Luther King Day Mass Celebration at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit on Jan. 17, 2005.Each year the award seeks to recognize the contributions of individuals who work for racial and ethnic harmony and reconciliation. Fe’ was honored for "decades of work fostering better relations not only among the various local Asian immigrant communities, but also between Asians and people of other ethnic and racial backgrounds."
