The University of Santo Tomas (UST), Research Center for Social Sciences and Education in cooperation with St. Paul University Surigao organized a Seminar on Data Confidentiality and Freedom of Information in Research last July 19, 2019 at St. Paul University Surigao, New site campus. It is a prelude to research initiatives amidst education 4.0. On a Tailor-made Learning path, Artificial Intelligence Formative Assessment, teacher as mentors, Divergence and plurality and Holistic education as a goal.
The Chief for research management division of Commission on Higher Education (CHED), emphasized and related the evolution of the industrial revolutions to education. He emphasized on the importance of Education 4.0 wherein there is a shift to critical thinking, creativity and emotional intelligence of which this highlights a challenge to educators on a massive retooling and capacity building of our teachers for education 4.0. Additionally, Mr. Robert S. Paguia, LLB, MPM the former Chief of Staff in the National Privacy Commission discussed on Data Privacy and confidentiality. During the seminar, project CLEAR which means Connection of Learning and Employability Assessment Report a CHED funded research was presented by the proponents from UST. It is Philippines involvement with the APECs QUILT Project that aims to collect data on indicators for quality of learning. UST submitted a proposal to develop the portal and generate data for policy formulation and to address the needs of CHED and the SUCs to keep track of the graduates. Two College faculty of St. Paul University Dumaguete Engr. Carol P. Tubog our new university DPO and Dr. Richard D. Pascua the Graduate School Program Chair for Nursing attended the said event.
