Kent Niño Sanchez Carmelotes is an ABM alumnus of the Basic Education Department of St. Paul University Dumaguete. As a young Kid from Basay Negros Oriental, he was an active member of the Boy Scouts in his school. When he joined the Paulinian family as a student in Senior High School, his leadership in Scouting, was enhanced and developed.
The Scouting Movement in St. Paul Dumaguete all started after World War II, with High School History and Education Professor Manuel S. Mongcopa and Political Science and History Professor Celerino Leon Pinili Martinez later a pioneer member of the Scouting Board of the BSP Negros Oriental -Siquijor Council.
Judge Victor C. Patrimonio made an impact on Scouting in this alma mater as a Scoutmaster, and later, he was elected as Council President and Outstanding Boy Scout Leader in the Country.
After 117th years, St. Paul University Dumaguete produced the first Eagle Scout -- the highest rank awarded to a Senior Scout in the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP).
Eagle Scout is a prestigious award of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines that recognizes scouts who have embodied the Scout law and have shown outstanding qualities in leadership both in school and the community. Eagle Scout awardees are the epitome of trustworthiness, loyalty, helpfulness, courteousness, kindness, obedience, cheerfulness, thriftiness, bravery, cleanliness, and reverence.
The National Board of Review for Eagle Scout Rank is composed of the Regional Scout Director Salvio Quicho, LT Dionisio E. Ramirez, LT Rosalinda Gubac, ALT Sonny Uy, ALT Bern Berber Arcaya, ES Myles Guian Aquino, and ES Ray Gabriel Chiu.
Carmelotes was a recipient of the Scout Jojo Magbanua Leadership and Scouting Award in 2019 and a very active adult leader of St. Paul and Negros Oriental-Siquijor Council. As a youth Patriot, he is also a member of the Order of the Knights of Rizal Dumaguete Chapter with the rank of Knights Officer of Rizal ( KOR) and Deputy Exchequer.
This award was not made possible without the help from his family, fellow scouts, mentors, with the support of Doris Rabanal Dago-oc the school BSP & GSP Coordinator, Rover Scout Josefino T. Larena Jr., Scout Mario Cual Jr., Scout Alexander S. Baena, and Queen Marie Truno Ferraren,
Council Scout Executive for her ending support and believing in him.
For the Administration headed by Sr. Joseline Lasala,SPC, VPAA Sr. Helen Malubay, SPC, Vice Principal Dr. Marissa M. Carale, and Sr. Emelita S. Alvarez SPC, our Basic Education Department Principal, for their support of the scouting endeavors of our young generation today.
