The PSITE7 in collaboration with Mikrotik^^s Training Center Wizmaster held a 6-day Trainer^^s Boot Camp last August 14-20, 2019 at Cebu Institute of Technology, Cebu City. Mikrotik is an international company based in Latvia providing internet connectivity in different countries.
St. Paul University Dumaguete was invited to join the said training and sent a faculty member from the institution. Mrs. Grace T. Alejado, MIT, a faculty member of the College of Business and Information Technology of SPUD and the program chair of the Information Technology Program, attended the Trainer^^s Boot Camp.
The goal of the training is to help the institution enrich its IT Curriculum by exposing its faculty members to industry networking practices on routing and managing wired and wireless networks using Mikrotik RouterOS. It can also lead the institution in becoming an accredited Mikrotik Academy. In the Mikrotik Academy, the students that will undergo the training will be able to take the MTCNA examination.
The main highlights of the training are the three certification exams that the trainees took after their training, these are international certifications. These certificates are the MTCNA, which is regarding the basics of the training and the two advance certificate which is the MTCRE and the MTCUME.
The MTCNA certificate will be given to the trainee who will reach the average score of 60% and above. One major advantage in taking this examination is that if the trainee will reach an average score of 75% of the MTCNA and also an average score of 75% in one advance certificate then the trainee will be qualified to be a trainer. Mrs. Alejado, passed all three certification examinations thus she is now qualified to train students. The institution, on the other hand, can also be a Mikrotik Academy once there is a MOA between the Mikrotik and the school.
