SPUD and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

At St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD), the values of compassion, service, and responsible stewardship have always shaped the way we teach, learn, and serve. Long before the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) became part of the global conversation, many of our programs and initiatives were already aligned with the spirit behind them.

The 17 SDGs, launched by the United Nations as a global call to action for people, planet, peace, and prosperity, resonate deeply with SPUD’s mission. Whether through our efforts in promoting quality education, advocating for health and well-being, supporting environmental sustainability, or building strong, inclusive communities, SPUD has consistently nurtured a culture of meaningful impact.

Today, as we feature the SDGs more visibly, we do so not to begin a new direction, but to recognize and reaffirm a journey we’ve already been part of. This space will highlight how our academic programs, research, community outreach, and institutional practices continue to reflect and advance the goals.

We invite our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners to rediscover how our shared actions, big and small, connect with a greater global purpose. Together, we continue to walk in faith, live out our mission, and help build a better world.

“Let us continue to live the Paulinian mission with a renewed sense of purpose, because the world needs compassionate leaders more than ever.”
