Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) Awards Copyright Certificates to a Paulinian Educator for Original Musical Compositions

In a proud and historic moment for St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD), the Research and Publications Office officially awarded the Certificates of Copyright from the IPOPHIL to Mr. Carmelo Amores Elli for his original musical works. Mr. Elli received recognition for the following compositions:

"Dapit na Pinalangga"
Classification: A – Books, Pamphlets, and Other Writings
Classification: F – Musical Compositions, With or Without Words

"Zamboanguita Pinalangga”
Classification: F – Musical Compositions, With or Without Words

“Amorem Ex Animo"
Classification: F – Musical Compositions, With or Without Words

The awarding ceremony was led by Sr. Mila Grace Silab, SPC, University President, who proudly presented the certificates to Mr. Elli, with the assistance of Dr. Maricar Flores, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Roel O. Jumawan, Director of the Research and Publications Office.

Mr. Elli is the former music teacher and now serves as the Band and Orchestra Director of SPUD, where he continues to inspire and cultivate musical excellence among the university’s students.

This milestone marks a significant achievement for SPUD, being the first time the university has received official copyright certificates from the IPOPHIL for musical compositions. It highlights the institution’s ongoing commitment to fostering intellectual property creation, innovation, and cultural preservation.

"This is more than just a recognition of talent- it is a testament to our mission of delivering quality and relevant education. Through the Research and Publications Office, we are committed to supporting more endeavors like this in the future" said Dr. Jumawan.
