SPUD Celebrates ASEAN Culture Through Colorful Mass Demonstration

St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) began the day with its much-awaited Mass Demonstration, embodying the theme “ASEAN Icons in Motion – Dancing Through Symbols and Stories!”

This year’s Mass Demonstration highlighted the vibrant cultures of ASEAN countries, blending movement, music, and tradition into a colorful showcase of unity in diversity. The program opened with inspiring remarks from Dr. Maricar Flores, Vice President for Academic Affairs, followed by a lively special number from the SPUD Marching Band, the 1st Runner-Up in the Buglasan 2025 Marching Band Competition.

Each performance beautifully represented a different ASEAN nation, capturing its unique identity through creative choreography, authentic costumes and props, and expressive music. The audience was treated to a series of dynamic presentations inspired by Singapore’s modern charm, Indonesia’s rich traditions, Myanmar’s graceful heritage, Vietnam’s cultural pride, Malaysia’s unity, the Philippines’ vibrant spirit, and Thailand’s warmth as the “Kingdom of Smiles.”

The celebration concluded with a symbolic presentation of unity among all ASEAN countries, signifying harmony, respect, and the shared identity of the ASEAN community. Each performance reflected not only the students’ artistry and discipline but also the Paulinian values of excellence, unity, and cultural appreciation that continue to shine through every celebration.
