The Sea That Once Gave Life Now Cries for Help

What was once a thriving home for marine life has now become waters of sorrow. What was once filled with hope and smiles has turned into pleas for help and cries of despair.

This tragedy stands as a painful reminder of how a single act of negligence can ripple through generations, taking away livelihoods, destroying ecosystems, and dimming the hope of those who once drew life from the sea. It calls not only for response, but also for reflection, accountability, and a renewed commitment to care for our common home.

This incident demands not just compensation, but deep and active accountability, for every life affected, every livelihood lost, and every hope that has faded in the wake of this disaster. True justice is not found in temporary aid but in long-term restoration: in rebuilding what was destroyed, healing what was wounded, and ensuring that such negligence never happens again.

We, the Paulinian family, are deeply disheartened by this tragedy, especially for our beloved partner community, the island of Olympia. It pains our hearts to see the once-clear, life-giving waters surrounding it now turned red with despair. The community that once radiated hope and joy now faces uncertainty and fear for the future, as their primary source of sustenance and livelihood has been stripped away.

As Paulinians, we stand in solidarity with the people of Bais City and Olympia. Let this be a call for awareness, responsibility, and unity, so that together, we may heal our environment, restore the beauty that was lost, and protect the dignity of those who depend on it.

May this tragedy awaken in all of us the courage to demand accountability, the compassion to act, and the faith to believe that renewal is still possible.
