SPU Dumaguete Concludes Innovation Month 2025 Showcasing Excellence in Research, Innovation and Creativity

St. Paul University Dumaguete successfully concluded its month-long celebration of Innovation Month 2025, anchored on the theme “Advancing Innovation Through Research and Development.” The series of activities strengthened the university’s mission of cultivating excellence in research, creativity and collaborative innovation—not only within the Paulinian community but also across partner schools in Negros Oriental.

The celebration opened with the Innovation Expo on November 14, where SPUD students presented their research-inspired and innovative projects. The expo showcased a range of ideas that reflected both creativity and problem-solving grounded in research. It served as a platform for students to explore real-world issues and propose practical, value-driven innovations.

On November 21, SPUD hosted the Seminar on Scopus-Indexed Publications with Dr. Albert Albina of Negros Oriental State University Bayawan as the resource speaker. Faculty members and student-researchers gained valuable insights into crafting publishable manuscripts, understanding journal standards, and navigating the pathway toward contributing to global academic literature. The session inspired participants to view publication as an achievable milestone supported by discipline and guided mentorship.

The culminating activities took place on November 28, beginning with the Seminar on Intellectual Property and Innovation, delivered by Dr. Johann Heinrich Malongo from Negros Oriental State University, which equipped students with essential knowledge about patents, copyrights, and safeguarding their original work. This session prepared young innovators to protect and responsibly develop their ideas as they pursue future research endeavors.

Innovation Month officially concluded with the Inter-school Innovation Fest 2025, which gathered outstanding student innovators and researchers from different schools. Participants presented their projects before the esteemed panel of judges; Engr. Manuel Torres, Engr. Nolan Fernandez, and Dr. Luisito Divinagracia. The event also served as an avenue for exchanging insights with fellow student innovators, and celebrated the spirit of shared creativity and academic collaboration.

SPU Dumaguete’s Office of Research and Publications extends its gratitude to all partner schools, speakers, administrators, faculty members, and student-presenters. This year’s Innovation Month reaffirmed SPU Dumaguete’s commitment to encouraging research-driven, value-oriented, and forward-thinking innovation—within and beyond the Paulinian community.
