1st RUNNER-UP AWARD AT BIOTECH: BIOINFORMATICS PROGRAM 2025

SPUD congratulates Team BioShield for earning the 1st Runner-Up Project Award in the BIOtech: Bioinformatics Program Batch 2, held online on September 24, October 1, 10, and 15, 2025.
Team BioShield is composed of Renan Jr. G. Quiñones, Trisha Mae A. Draper, and Kate De Guzman Dumala.
Their project, BioShield, stood out for its innovative bioinformatics-based model that addresses the health risks caused by stagnant water by identifying harmful microorganisms and promoting sustainable biotechnology solutions.
The team was recognized for their creativity, strong collaboration, and effective application of bioinformatics concepts to real-world community health concerns. As part of the award, they were also granted a 25% scholarship to join the Holiday Program Virtual Camp, “The Future of Heritage: A Virtual Camp of Culture and Science.”
This achievement highlights the dedication of SPUD students to scientific inquiry, innovation, and service to the community.
