SPUD Edges Out NMCFI in 3–2 Victory
SEP 29

St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) Saints Men’s Volleyball Team edged out Negros Maritime College Foundation Inc. (NMCFI) in a thrilling five-set clash, 3–2, during the 6th season of NORSAA Men’s Volleyball on September 28, 2025, at the Foundation University Gymnasium.
Fueled by the energy of supporters from both schools, the match became a test of grit and skill. Each set played out like a tug-of-war, with powerful spikes, strong blocks, and long rallies keeping the crowd on edge.
In the deciding set, both teams fought point for point, but momentum shifted when NMCFI’s Baniga suffered a nose injury after a diving attempt, disrupting their rhythm. SPUD stayed composed and executed clean plays to close out the match, 3–2.
“When the pressure was on, we didn’t give in; we fought until the final whistle. We wanted to show that a victory born out of faith in your teammates is the most meaningful kind. We won because of that trust. We won, together,” said SPUD Team Captain Jake Ryan Villanueva.
With this hard-earned win, SPUD now heads into their next match against Metro Dumaguete College on October 4, 2025.
