Levesville Week Day 2: SPUD Holds Comprehensive Orientation for Freshmen and Transferees
JUL 13
St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) officially introduced its freshmen and transferees to university life through a whole-day orientation program held on July 7, 2026, at the FLCH Gym.
The program opened with a prayer, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and a unity dance performed by members of the Paulinian Student Government (PSG).
In her welcome message, Sr. Pearlgen Joy Arroyo, SPC, explained the significance of symbols that represent the Paulinian identity and the journey students will take throughout their years at the university. She also led the "Paulinian DNA" orientation, highlighting the history of SPUD, its core values, and the importance of kindness as a defining characteristic of every Paulinian.
To familiarize students with the university's leadership, Dr. Marrisa Carale introduced the members of the administration, department heads, and key personnel. This was followed by Dr. Maricar Flores, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who presented the university's academic roadmap, expectations, and opportunities available to students.
The orientation featured interactive couch sessions, allowing representatives from the Registrar's Office, Finance Office, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), the Library, and the Christian Formation Office to answer students' questions.
The program continued with presentations from the Office of International Relations, EOMS, the Security and Safety Office, Health Services, Guidance Services, the Data Privacy Office, and the Scholarship Office, providing students with an overview of the university's support services and welfare programs.
The afternoon session focused on student life and campus policies. Mrs. Angela Kristine Ocao, Head of the Student Affairs Office, conducted an orientation on the Student Handbook. She discussed university policies, student responsibilities, proper decorum, and campus regulations.
More than an introduction to university policies, the orientation gave freshmen and transferees a meaningful first look into the values, traditions, and support systems that define life at St. Paul University Dumaguete.
