St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) achieved top honors at the 30th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Provincial Elimination, securing both the championship title and the third-place spot.

The academic competition, organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), was held at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Dumaguete City branch. The event gathered first-year college students from various higher education institutions across the province to test their statistical knowledge.

Gabriel Eon Paguio, a first-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) student majoring in Marketing Management, won the competition to emerge as the Provincial Champion. Paguio demonstrated strong analytical skills and precision throughout the rounds to lead the Paulinian delegation.

Adding to the university's strong performance, Melbert Dangculos, a first-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) student majoring in Mathematics, earned a podium finish by claiming 3rd Place.

The students were guided by their coaches, Mr. Ian Rey Igos and Mrs. Irish Udtohan, who prepared the team in statistical concepts, probability, and official data systems.

The annual Philippine Statistics Quiz is a nationwide contest designed to assess the statistical capabilities of college freshmen and raise awareness about the value of data in national development.
